California Real Estate: Palo Alto Real Estate
June 22, 2008 2:36 pm California Real Estate, Real EstatePalo Alto, like much of California, is experiencing rising real estate prices across the board. People just seem to want to live in this community, and despite the tech crash following the heady days of the 90s, Palo Alto is continuing to thrive and expand. There are truly some great reasons why people choose to live in this Silicon Valley town.
Palo Altos name comes from a 250-year old coastal redwood tree that is growing along the San Fransiquito Creek. The city is over one hundred years old and there seems to be no end to its economic growth. Despite its cutting edge image, Palo Alto has a surprisingly quaint charm complete with beautiful tree-lined streets and a thriving downtown area.
One interesting fact about Palo Alto is that it is the only full service municipality in California. This means that the city owns and operates all of its water, gas, electric, storm drainage, refuse and sewer facilities. The city can then offer these services to its residents at a competitive price.
Silicon Valleys Jewel
The people who live in Palo Alto pride themselves on being, on the whole, a highly educated, politically aware populace. There are a number of civic minded institutions run by the citizens of Palo Alto, in addition to a number of community groups and organizations. The real estate market in Palo Alto is on the high side, even for California, but there is a lot of reasons why people choose to live in this unique and affluent town.
