California Real Estate: Redwood City Real Estate

1:43 pm California Real Estate, Real Estate

Like many of the smaller towns in the Bay Area, Redwood City was originally part of the far-stretching Las Pulgas Rancho. Located within San Mateo County, Redwood City is actually the first city within the county to be incorporated. This was on March 27, 1868 and the city has continued to build, expand, and move forward with its residents.

Named after the majestic coastal redwood trees, this lumber town has easily grown with the times. It was initially a shipping and lumber town, but as the lumber business moved elsewhere, the city redefined itself and grew to become a place where a number of businesses thrived. Canneries, farms and small businesses quickly took over where lumber left off.

As Redwood city has grown, it has proven time and again that it is indeed a model for sound, ecologically friendly growth. For example, Blair Island was annexed by the city and set aside specifically as a wildlife sanctuary. As Redwood City grows, it continues to diversify and expand its economic base.

Redwood City Is a Great Real Estate Market
Like most of California, both southern and northern, Redwood City has real estate prices that are breaking records. Finding a home there is certainly not impossible, but having a real estate agent in your corner can really make your search a lot more pleasant. When looking for an agent, make sure you find one that is really familiar with Redwood City and the surrounding communities. A knowledgeable agent can make all the difference in the world.
